Both purgatory and pre-rapturism are 2nd chance for salvation, heresies. Just as the Roman Catholic church teaches purgatory is a place where an unsaved though not necessarily damned person will go to ‘suffer as a penitent’ for sins, so does the rapture teaching allow someone to be left behind and through great tribulation up to and including beheading, will escape damnation.
Was the RCC behind the ‘pre-trib’ doctrine? Both purgatory and pre-rapturism are 2nd chance for salvation, heresies. Many Evangelicals, believing the Lord will return secretly several years before the final apocalypse, think that if they miss “the first round draft” will, after “great tribulation and/or beheading” be found worthy of salvation. But what if there is no 2nd return? What if it is ‘as in the days of Noah?’ When the ark door closed, you were either in the ark and saved or out of the ark and lost. So many people who believe the pretrib rapture may be hedging their conversion on a “grace period” analogous to a ‘Purgatory.’
A concocted doctrine of deceit to mislead & divide the Christians who were growing in number as a result of the Reformation. The Jesuits, a RCC militarized priesthood that works in the shadows breeds chaos, confusion, & death.
Pastors addres the possible dire consequence of belief in an imminent return of Christ and it being opportune for an antichrist to deceive many. By believing that Christ will return prior to the conclusion of the tribulation period is opening one’s self up for disappointment, if not deception. Is it possible that this teaching was a Jesuit conspired plan to divide the church, to divide Israel?
